How To Make The Cookies

ree

Dear Friend,

Below is the recipe for “Peanut Butter Crinkles”. The original recipe came from my Jr. High Home Economics class. I made these cookies for Youth Bake Sales many years ago when I was a Youth. Later in life, Rena and I made them at Christmas time and for special events such as school parties and church dinners.

I found a special value in these cookies one year when a friend was going through a difficult time. Every attempt I made to talk with this friend was falling short and then I remembered how much this person loved these cookies. I decided I wouldn’t try to talk about any of the problems for a few weeks, but I would regularly make and deliver these cookies to my friend.

Each time I made them, I prayed. Eventually, I earned the privilege of talking about the problem. I learned a valuable lesson during this time: Prayer and some good homemade cookies can break through some of the toughest barriers! I made the cookies more frequently after that experience. They have opened some doors of ministry opportunity I never imagined possible!

At some point during this time, Rena recommended I put chocolate chips in these cookies. I did so and out came what is now commonly known as “Bro. Ray’s Homemade Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies”. Many people seem to like them, and I am humbled that people would call them by my name, but I want you to know it was Rena’s idea to add the chocolate chips! That proved to be a GREAT idea from an even GREATER woman!!!

Rena passed away on August 8, 2011. Losing her made me take stock of a lot of things about life and death. Two things stuck out:

1. Life is too short to not share good things.

2. Eternity is too long to not know Jesus.

#2 is the most important. Knowing Jesus makes life in this world and the one to come much better! My journey knowing Him began many years ago. I haven’t arrived yet, but I am still on that adventure! If you don’t know Him, you are missing out on the greatest relationship you will ever have. I pray you will come to know Him soon.

#1 is important, too. I used to guard this recipe closely. Now I know the importance of sharing good things while you can. So, make the cookies! They are too good to not be shared with a LOT of people! I hope you will be blessed by this recipe as much as much as I have been! And if you want to see how I make them, click this link:

Sincerely,

Bro. Ray Jones
