Where is grace when you need it? (Job Lesson 9)
I heard the story of a minister who had a professor in college who taught him and his classmates a wonderful lesson about grace. The students had studied all semester and were preparing for the final. While in the class session where they were reviewing material just before the final the professor decided to add a lot of obscure information that was in the text book but had not been previously discussed. When the students asked about the added material, the professor gently reminded them they were responsible for all of the material.
When test day came, the professor handed out the papers face down and instructed the students to wait until he told them to turn them over. After each one had their paper, he gave the word. To their delightful amazement each student found the test had already been completed and each of them got an "A" on the assignment. While they looked on in disbelief the professor told them, "I've been teaching you about the grace of God all semester. Today I wanted you to have a living example of it."
Grace is God's unmerited favor. We all need it. AND we all need to extend it. In tonight's lesson about Job and his friends we will look for where God's grace shows up and where it doesn't. Thanks for tuning in!
