You Say It Best When You Say Nothing at All

In the late 1980's Keith Whitley came across a song written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz that bears the title, "You Say It Best When You Say Nothing at All." The gist of that song is that the unspoken gestures of love and security between a man and woman who genuinely love each other say more than words could ever say. Music fans of that era readily agreed with that message because Keith took that song to the top of the charts in 1988.

You may or may not agree with the thesis of this song when it comes to expressing love, and that's ok. But I have found when it comes to helping someone who is grieving, you really do say it best when you say nothing at all, or at least as little as possible. Job found that to be true, too. And his three closest friends put it into practice with him, at least initially, when they came to visit. Let's see what we can learn from them. Thanks for tuning in!
