How Much Can Go Wrong in a Day? (Job Lesson 2)

Aug 5, 2026

Some years ago, my kids got the chance to go on a trip to Branson, MO with their Uncle Andy, Aunt Carrie, and Cousin Britni. One set of grandparents met up with them there where they all planned to have a relaxing, fun time. During this trip Carrie got very sick and ended up being hospitalized. While Carrie was getting medical treatment, nobody needed 3 upper elementary age kids to watch over, so we made arrangements to meet the grandparents a little north of Little Rock, AR to get the kids. We met at a Cracker Barrel where we transferred cargo and passengers. Before we each headed back to our respective destinations, we decided to go in to eat.

While we were eating a group of birds decided to redecorate our green minivan with white polka dots. It didn’t appear that any other vehicle nearby had received such special treatment. As a matter of fact, it seemed as if they had sent out a memo that said, “Green minivans are today’s target” and that there were no other green minivans in a 50 mile radius.

Some days are like that. As a matter of fact, some years feel like that! Everything that could go wrong seems to and we begin to feel overwhelmed. We have all had times like this, but I don’t think any of us have had it happen quite like Job and his wife. This lesson takes a look at the beginning of their woes and how Job responded. Thanks for tuning in!
